Author Guidelines

Cranmer Theological Journal accepts two types of submissions:

  • Article: 4,000–8,000 words (excluding title, author information, and abstract). If the submission fits the scope and author guidelines, the Editors will solicit double-blind peer reviews prior to making their editorial decision.

  • Book Review: 500–1000 words. The decision to accept a book review is at the sole discretion of the Book Review Editor, and reviews longer than 600 words should be discussed beforehand with the review editor.

Prior queries are required for book reviews ([email protected]) and encouraged for regular articles ([email protected]). The query should be just a paragraph or two about what you have in mind, and why you think it would be of interest to the journal’s readers.

Reviewer Guidelines

Guidelines for the journal’s review process are provided in our reviewer guidelines.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • It meets the length, formatting and other requirements provided in the complete Author Guidelines.
  • It has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration at another journal.
  • References have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • Any copyrighted text (or image) quoted either satisfies “fair use” criteria, or the author has obtained appropriate permission for its use.

By submitting your work, you agree that if your work is accepted:

  • It will be published under a CC BY-ND 4.0 open access license, which permits re-use, distribution and reproduction if appropriate credit is given to the original work; and
  • While you retain copyright for your work, you grant Cranmer Theological Journal exclusive rights to make the first publication of this work — prior to any website, book chapter or any other (re)publication venue.
